The drought is over!
Regina Spektor - Mon 3 Dec Town Hall, Auckland
Regina Spektor can do no wrong in my books. The Russian-born singer-songwriter is currently touring her sixth album What We Saw From The Cheap Seats. She’ll be bringing her lively brand of pop-folk to New Zealand for one show at Auckland’s town hall, a venue that’s just ridiculously appropriate in its intimacy.
Weezer - Fri 11 Jan Vector Arena, Auckland
In the 90s, Weezer were cult heroes, nowadays they’re more like hipster whipping boys. But they’re power-pop credentials are second to none, and their live shows are where they work to show they’ve still got it. To do that, they’ll be playing both a greatest hits set, and The Blue Album in its entirety.
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Mon 14 Jan Vector Arena, Auckland
North American cicadas that hibernate for 17 years are consistently impressed but surprised that the Red Hot Chili Peppers are still around. The long-surviving band is headlining next year’s Big Day Out; but since the New Zealand leg of the BDO is no more, the Chilis are also heading across the Tasman to play a show at Auckland’s Vector Arena.
