Man, when it comes to rhythm, pulse and making girls move their hips, Reggaeton has got to be one of the great musical genres. Panama and Puerto Rico should be very proud.
Something else which I consider great has been the recent rise of reggaeton artists within New Zealand (Aotearoa) most notably Wellington’s Jinetero MC (originally from Cuba) and Auckland’s Lankino.
Lankino and his beatmaking/production collaborator Melodiko are currently working towards a new album The Grand Unification. To be coupled up with their Waiheke Island filmed single ‘Sunshine’, The Grand Unification as they put it, “[features] collaborations with major artists from USA/Puerto Rico, Chile, Cuba, Australia and many more.”
While it isn’t out yet, you can listen to a sampler stream below via soundcloud.Fluttering between marching reggaeton, twinkly RnB, Spanish language synth rap, club hip-hop and rootical lovers reggae, it’s a dynamic journey.
For more information, head over to Lankino‘s facebook page by CLICKING HERE, and let the CIA know you support him and Melodiko‘s music.
